01. Getting Started

First of all, Thank you so much for purchasing this template and for being our customer. You are awesome!
You are entitled to get free lifetime updates to this product + exceptional support from the author directly.

This documentation is to help you regarding each step of customization.
Please go through the documentation carefully to understand how this template is made and how to edit this properly.

When you purchase Colova from Themeforest, you need to login your account and download theme files from Themeforest. Please make sure you downloaded All file & Documentation option.

What is included?

After you downloaded theme files you will find inside it;

- Contains Colova theme documentation
03. - Theme file for WordPress installation, if you want to install your theme manually (with FTP) you must unzip this file.
04. - Child Theme file for WordPress installation, if you want to install your theme manually (with FTP) you must unzip this file.

02. Installation
1. Theme installation

There's two way for install themes on WordPress, you can select which one is good for you.

Theme Installation via WordPress Admin;

Step 1: Login your WordPress admin dashboard

Step 2: Navigate to Appearance > Themes

Step 3: Click on Upload Theme

Step 4: Click on chose file, select "" and click Install Now.

Step 5: After upload is finished, click on Colova to Activate

Theme Installation Manual (via FTP);

Step 1: Login to your hosting server via FTP client.

Step 2: Go to the folder /wp-content/themes

Step 3: Upload "" extracted content

Step 4: Login your WordPress admin dashboard Upload Theme

Step 5: Navigate to Appearance > Themes

Step 6: Click on Colova to Activate

After you install and activate Colova, you need to setup some couple of things to use it best condition. Please follow these documentation.

2. Install plug-ins

Every theme needs some plug-ins and with Colova, you can install necessary plugins with only one click. Please follow these steps below;

Step 1: After you activate Colova, you will see a sub-menu named "İnstall Plugins" inside of Appearance menu.

Step 2: Click on İnstall Plugins

Step 3: Install and activate all plug-ins

3. Demo Content

After you download theme files you will see a folder named "Demo Content", this folder contains an .xml file "colova.xml" , to install demo content follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate Tools > Import in your WordPress admin dashboard.

Step 2: Click on WordPress > Install Now

Step 3: After plugin installation complete click on Run Importer

Step 4: Click on Choose File and choose .xml file you want to import.

Step 5: Click on Choose File and choose colova.xml file.

Step 6: Click on Upload file and import.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Images and videos in demo website are not included with your purchase from ThemeForest, there are just for demo website. So after you install demo content images and videos will not be there.

After you install .xml file you still need to do some couple of things please continue follow these guide.

4. Menus

After you install ml you need to setup navigation menu. Follow these very easy steps below:

Step 1: Navigate Appearance > Menus in your WordPress admin dashboard

Step 2: You will see a menu named Main Menu created

Step 3: Scroll to bottom of the page

Step 4: Click Primary Menu checkbox

Step 5: Click on Save Menu

5. Setting-up Pages

After you install demo .xml you need to setup home page. Follow these very easy steps below:

Step 1: Navigate Settings > Reading in your WordPress admin dashboard

Step 2: There is two variation for homepage display.

Step 3: Click on A static page(select below) checkbox, and select an home page.

Step 4: Select Blog in Posts page select menu.

Step 5: Click on Save Changes.

6. Colova Homepages

There's one important thing about Colova homepages (portoflio showcase layouts).
After you setup demo content, Showcase pages will looks empty. This means "There's not a project choosed for display here" so you must choose the project which will display. Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate Appearance > Customize in your WordPress admin dashboard

Step 2: Click "Portfolio Settings"

Step 3: Click which showcase layouts you want to use.

Step 4: You will see first section named "Select Potrfolios".

Step 5: Click on it and select portfolios.

Step 6: Click on Save Changes.

03. Theme Settings

In Colova, all theme settings in WordPress's customizations screen.
So it's very easy to customize for every theme feature.

1. Site Identity

Site Identity tab, first step of a creating a website for yourself.
Here you can add your logos, enter your site title and description or add a favicon.

Let's take a look what is in here;

Logo: This is a global setting for your logo, the image you chose for here (strongly recommended png images) will be display whole website.

Light Logo: This option is just a logo variation, if you want to use light headers this logo will display for light headers.

Site Title: Enter your website title here this important for SEO and website's identity.

Site Description: Enter your website title here this important for SEO and website's identity.

Site Icon: You can upload your favicon image here.

2. Header Settings

You can customize your website header in this section.

Header Skin: This is a global setting for whole site header, your choose in this opinion will affect everypage but if you choose other skin for a single page,post or project this settings will be overwrited.

Menu Style: You can select website's navigation style here, mobile navigation will always fullscreen you can not change it. This option is only for medium and large screen types.

3. Portfolio Settings

Here you can customize portfolio showcase layouts. Every showcase layouts has it's own settings so you can choose which layouts you want to use and customize it here.

A summary about portfolio settings;

Select and order projects: You can select which projects will be display in showcase page and you can easly order projects by using drag and drop feature.

Header and footer styles: You can choose header and footer styles specificaly for showcase pages.

Select and edit page elements: This option types are not available for every showcase layouts. It's generally for slider type showcase pages. You can select which elements will be display in this option.

4. Blog Settings

Classic blog settings for blog archive page.

Blog Title: Enter your blog page title here.

Blog Sub-title: Enter your blog page sub title here (this is not neccessary)

5. Page Loader Settings

You can add your own image (jpg, png or gif) here and it'll be displayed when page load in progress.

6. Footer Settings

There you can customize website footers.
Colova has two footer type;

Fullscreen Footer: This footer type for fullscreen showcase pages in this tab you can select footer style and you can add your content.

Classic Footer: Classic footer displaying all inner pages. You can select background types, upload logos or enter copyright content here. But the real content of footer must entered in widgets.

04. Portfolio
1. Creating Portfolios

To create portfolios in Colova, this very easy it's just like creating posts or pages in WordPress.
If you want to create a project please follow these very easy steps below;

Step 1: Navigate "Portfolio -> Add New" on your WordPress Admin Dashboard.

Step 2: Add a title for this single project.

Step 3: Add your content.

Step 3: Enter project details.

For portfolio content, you can use default WordPress editor (Gutenberg) but Colova is not fully compitable with Gutenberg so we strongly recommend you to use Unyson Page builder for project content. If you want to use Unyson page builder you must activate it for project pages. Please follow these steps for activate Unyson for project pages;

Step 1: Navigate "Unyson" on your WordPress Admin Dashboard.

Step 2: You will see "Page Builder" section under Active Extensions title

Step 3: Click Settings button in Page Builder section.

Step 4: Click Projects checkbox.

Step 5: Save Changes.

2. Portfolio Details

When creting projects, Colova offers you some extra details. You don't need to enter all details. These details are not displaying for all showcase layouts or single project page. For example: Project Summary content is only displaying in horizontal slider showcase and single project page.

Let's take a look what is in;

Project Color: This is the most important option for projects because all showcase layouts will use this color for this project.

Project Work: Enter a short work title for this project such as a category.

Project Date: Enter project date here.

Project Summary: You can enter a short description about your porject.

Featured Video: If you want to display a video on showcase layout pages you must enter video's URL here (it must be .mp4 format)

Header Image: Upload an image here, it'll be display as single project's header image

Project Header Style: This option is let's you control project header's skin.

Site Header Style: You can select a skin for site header (menu and logo) this option will belong only this project's page.

05. Widgets

Colova is a widget ready theme for whole website. You can see widget display locations below;

06. Shortcodes

Every page in Colova created with Unyson Page Builder (except fullscreen pages). Unyson Page Builder is very easy to create and edit page builder, working with drag and drop so you can create/edit pages easily.
In Unyson Builder you will see three tabs named; Layout Elements, Content Elements, Media Elements

Layout Elements - Columns and sections

Content Elements - Colova page build elements for example; portfolio , accordion, services..

Media Elements - Colova media build elements for example; video , image
